A day in the life of an Area Manager

"After ten years at Jacques Vert, I suppose you could say I have been here for the whole journey. I first started off as a Sales Assistant and worked my way up until two years ago when I got where I wanted to be.

Working with people is a massive part of the job, as you do a lot of coaching you need to be able to motivate your team from afar. Training is key, so you have to demonstrate that you want to learn and develop.

After acquiring my own store I was encouraged to assist the Area Manager in running the area while she was seconded to project work. This gave me some real hands on experience, which really helped me in my personal development.

I would say the challenge is one of the best parts of my job. I love sales targets. I also love going out on store visits, getting out on the shop floor working with the Customer Sales Assistants and Store Management. I think the people, rewards and recognition schemes are what sets Jacques Vert apart from other employers. When I interview potential Branch Managers they are always impressed with the opportunities that we have to offer."

A day in the life of Sales Assistant

"The thing I like about my job is that no two days are the same. There is always something different happening or new product going into store.

I joined Jacques Vert two years ago and I was attracted to the company because of its well-known reputation. On starting with the company my first few days were spent learning about the company and my training has been on going. There is so much to learn about the products, this gave me the confidence to sell the features and benefits of the products. The key to this role is providing excellent customer service.

I think the best days are when the store has a marketing event, there is a real buzz about the place, and during these events everyone has fun.
