History

In 1972, Jack Cynamon and Alan Green, two tailors from the East End of London, started in business together making clothes. Their skills and strength in clothing design and production resulted in a series of successful womenswear collections. In 1977 they created a range of co-ordinated fashion for the discerning woman. Combining their names and adding a French twist, the Jacques Vert brand was born and shortly afterwards became a public company.

The company, which is today listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange, expanded into a multi-branded fashion-retailing group in December 2002 with the acquisition of William Baird Plc. This added three further womenswear labels – Planet, Precis Petite and Windsmoor, plus a large garment manufacturer in Sri Lanka.

The four brands under the Jacques Vert umbrella are now retailed in over 900 outlets, mostly as concessions within leading department stores, but also as a number of stand alones. While the majority of these are located within the UK, the brands are also sold in over thirty stores in Canada and in an expanding number of stores in the Republic of Ireland. Each brand operates its own successful online web store bringing the product directly into the homes of thousands of customers.

The group also offers its products direct to corporate clients and other organisations looking for a range of stylish and versatile clothing for their employees.

The Jacques Vert Head Office is based in Islington, London. Support operations, including warehousing, are located in the North East of England, in County Durham.
